Shapes and die-cut styles

The die-cut is what separates a door hanger from a flyer. The hole and slot have to fit what they are hanging on, and the card has to be stiff enough to stay there in a breeze.

Standard hanger

A rectangular card with a round hole and a slot cut to the top edge. The hole drops over a handle or a latch and the slot lets it go on without lifting the whole card off. The default for residential distribution.

Hanger with tear-off coupon

A perforated section at the base that the resident tears off and keeps, usually carrying a discount code, a phone number or a service checklist. The hanger goes in the bin; the coupon goes in a pocket.

Arch and rounded tops

A curved top instead of a square one. It costs the same as a standard die-cut because it is the same cutting operation, and it makes the piece look designed rather than mass-produced.

Fold-over gate tags

A scored card that folds over a gate bar, a grill or a latch and holds by its own crease, sometimes with a punched hole for a tie. Built for houses with steel gates rather than door handles.

Hotel room hangers

Double-sided Do Not Disturb and Clean My Room hangers for hotels and guest houses, printed on heavy card. These stay in service for months, so order spares in the same run and replace them as a set when they start looking tired.

Custom die-cut shapes

A hanger cut to a bottle, a key, a house outline or your own shape. It needs a new cutting die, which adds a one-off cost, so it makes sense on larger runs or on a design you will reprint.

Will it hang on the doors in your area?

This is worth ten minutes before you print anything, because it is the difference between a delivered campaign and five thousand cards left on doorsteps. Door hangers were designed around round door knobs, and a great many homes here do not have one.

  • Apartments and flats usually have lever handles or knobs on the main door, and a standard hanger with a 35 mm hole works. This is the easiest distribution in the country and it is why most hanger campaigns here target apartment blocks.
  • Gated houses and bungalows often have a steel gate with no handle to hang from. A standard hanger ends up wedged in the grill or on the ground. A fold-over gate tag, or a hanger with a punched hole and a tie, holds properly.
  • Society and DHA-type housing varies street by street. Walk one block of your target area first and look at what is actually on the gates before you commit to a die.
  • Hotels and guest houses are the one setting where the standard shape always fits, since room doors are built with knobs or levers.
  • Where guards are posted, a hanger left at a gate house often never reaches the resident. Either arrange access with the society office first or budget for the loss.
  • Check the hole size against the handles you saw. A 35 mm hole clears most lever handles and knobs. Chunky gate latches and older brass knobs may need 40 mm or a wider slot.

If you are not sure, tell us the type of area you are distributing in and we will suggest the shape and hole size that fits it. Getting this wrong is expensive, and it cannot be corrected after the die is cut.

Sizes

Sizes below are the finished die-cut piece, including the hole area at the top.

  • 90 x 215 mm – the standard door hanger. Long enough to read from a few steps away, narrow enough to print economically several up on a sheet.
  • 105 x 280 mm – the large format, roughly A4 cut lengthways. Room for a service list, a price panel or a tear-off coupon without crowding the message.
  • 100 x 230 mm – a middle size that suits a headline, a photo and a phone number.
  • 90 x 280 mm with tear-off – the standard width with an extra 60 to 70 mm at the base for a perforated coupon.
  • Hotel hanger, 90 x 200 mm – sized to sit neatly on a room door without reaching the lock plate.
  • Hole and slot – 35 mm diameter hole with a 12 mm slot to the top edge as standard, adjustable if your handles need it.

Custom sizes are available. If the hanger has to match an existing one, send us a sample or the measurements including the hole position and we will match the die.

Paper stocks and finishes

A door hanger has one job to do while hanging unsupported outdoors, often in direct sun. Weight matters more here than on any other small-format print: a thin hanger curls, folds over the handle and stops being readable long before anyone gets home to look at it.

350gsm matte card

The working minimum. Anything lighter bends over the handle and looks discarded within an hour of being hung. Matte keeps the print readable in direct sunlight, where a shiny surface just reflects.

400gsm heavy card

For large formats and anything hanging outdoors on an exposed gate. The extra stiffness stops the card folding on itself in a breeze, which is what makes hangers end up on the ground.

Glossy card

A shiny coated surface that lifts photographs and strong colour, and shrugs off dust and fingerprints better than an untreated sheet. Choose it when a product photo is doing the selling.

Coloured and kraft card

A hanger that is not white stands out on a gate full of white ones. A single ink colour on kraft or a coloured stock costs the same as full colour on white and often gets read first.

Die-cutting and gate tags

The hole, the slot, the arch top, a fold-over gate tag and any custom outline are all cut digitally from your artwork, with no die to pay for. This is the part of a door hanger that decides whether it stays on the door.

350gsm plain card

An unsealed surface that takes pen, for service notices, meter readings, delivery attempts and anything where your staff writes a date or a name at the door.

Designing one that gets read instead of binned

A door hanger is read at arm’s length by someone with keys in one hand who has already decided it is junk. You have one line to change that.

  • Lead with the service, not the brand. AC servicing, water tank cleaning, pest control, internet in your block. Your logo means nothing to someone who has not heard of you; the service means everything if they needed it this week.
  • Make the top third work alone. That is the part visible at a glance while the card hangs. Put the service and the phone number there, not at the bottom.
  • Keep the hole area clear. Nothing important within 10 mm of the hole or the slot, because the die cuts straight through whatever is there.
  • Give a specific local proof. Naming the block, the society or the phase you already work in beats any general claim, because it tells the reader you are two streets away.
  • Add a tear-off coupon. The hanger will be thrown away. A perforated piece with a code and a number survives in a drawer, and it is the only reliable way to know the run worked.
  • One number, big. Preferably a WhatsApp number with a QR beside it, because most people will message rather than call a stranger.
  • Print both sides. You cannot control which way round it gets hung, so a blank reverse is half your print wasted.
  • Do not make it look like a government notice unless it is one. Plain white text-only hangers get mistaken for utility notices, opened with irritation and remembered badly.

Timing matters as much as design. A hanger delivered mid-morning is seen when people come home in the evening. One delivered late at night is often removed by a guard or a cleaner before anyone sees it.

Urdu and bilingual door hangers

Of all the pieces we print, this is the one that benefits most from Urdu. A door hanger is read by whoever opens the gate, which is often not the person who ordered the service, and English-only cards lose a large share of that audience.

  • Lead in Urdu for residential drops. An Urdu headline with English contact details underneath reaches more households in most areas than the reverse. Decide based on the block you are covering, not on how your website looks.
  • Keep the phone number in standard numerals. It has to be dialled or typed into WhatsApp from a distance, and mixed numeral systems on a card read at arm’s length cause mistakes.
  • Send Urdu as outlines or a print-ready PDF with fonts embedded. Nastaliq letters join and reshape, so live text in a font we do not hold will break apart.
  • Working in InPage? Export to PDF and send that rather than the .inp file. If you only have the InPage layout, send it and we will rebuild it as a print file.
  • Set Urdu larger with more line spacing. The script reads lighter than Latin type at the same size, and this card is read at a distance in daylight glare.
  • Use both sides for both languages if the message is long. Urdu on one face, English on the other, rather than crowding both onto one.

Sindhi and Pashto follow the same rules, and are worth considering where your distribution area calls for them. Send us the copy and we will typeset it.

Why businesses print their door hangers with Zarvex

Door hangers fail for physical reasons far more often than design ones. Wrong hole, wrong weight, wrong finish, and the run never gets read.

Die-cutting and perforation in-house

Hole, slot, arch tops, gate tags and tear-off coupons are all cut here. We will also adjust the hole size to the handles in your distribution area rather than defaulting to one die for every job.

Stock that survives the day

350gsm is our minimum for a hanger, because a curled, flimsy card is thrown away without being read. We will say so if the weight you have chosen is too light, and we will tell you plainly that print is not weatherproof, so a hanger is a same-day piece rather than a week-long one.

Numbered tear-off coupons

Coupons can be sequentially numbered or coded by area, so redemption tells you which block responded. It costs very little and it turns a distribution into something you can measure.

Every file gets checked

Die line placement, clearance around the hole and the perforation, resolution, colour mode and bleed. Artwork running into the cutting area is caught before the run, not after.

How ordering works

01. Pick shape and stock

Choose a product from the range above, then set the size, the hole style, the paper stock, any tear-off coupon and the quantity.

02. Send your artwork

Upload print-ready front and back files with the die line marked, or send your service details and logo on WhatsApp and our designers will lay it out.

03. Approve the proof

You get a proof of both sides with the die line, hole and perforation shown. Check that nothing important sits in the cutting area before approving.

04. Print, cut and deliver

Printed, die-cut, perforated and boxed, then delivered in Karachi or couriered nationwide. Files and cut paths stay on record for reorders.

Getting your artwork press-ready

Everything here is standard print setup apart from the die line, which is where most door hanger files go wrong.

  • Supply the die line on its own layer, drawn as a vector path in a spot colour named Die, set to overprint and not printing. If you do not have one, ask us for the template for your size and build on it.
  • Keep 10 mm clear of the hole and the slot. The die cuts straight through artwork, so a logo or a phone number sitting near the hole will be cut in half.
  • Backgrounds should run through the hole area, not stop short of it. Colour and images bleed under the cut; only text and logos need clearance.
  • Bleed 3 mm on all outer edges and 4 mm safe area inside the trim.
  • Tear-off coupons need 5 mm clear of the perforation on both sides of the line, and the coupon should repeat your phone number. A coupon with only a code on it is useless once the hanger is binned.
  • Supply front and back as separate files or pages, clearly marked. Both sides get seen, because you cannot control which way the card is hung.
  • Resolution 300 DPI, colour in CMYK, rich black at C40 M30 Y30 K100 for large dark panels, fonts outlined or embedded.
  • Files: print-ready PDF is best. We also accept AI, EPS, CDR from CorelDRAW, packaged INDD and layered PSD built at final size.

No artwork yet? Send your service details, logo, phone number and the area you are covering, and our design team will build both sides on the correct die before it goes to proof.

Door hangers by trade

Where you are distributing decides the shape, and what you want back decides whether the card needs a tear-off.

Home services and maintenance

AC servicing, water tank cleaning, pest control, plumbing, solar and generator maintenance. Seasonal timing does most of the work here: an AC servicing hanger in April is a different business to the same card in December.

Property and real estate

Block-by-block drops announcing a listing, a project or an open viewing. Number the tear-off coupon by street or block and the responses tell you where your buyers actually live.

Restaurants and takeaways

A short menu on a hanger reaches a household at the point where they are deciding what to eat. Print a first-order code on the tear-off so the order comes to you directly rather than through a platform.

Hotels and guest houses

Do Not Disturb and Clean My Room hangers, plus room service and wifi details on the reverse. Printed on heavy card and replaced as a set, which keeps every room looking consistent rather than patchy.

Internet and cable providers

Coverage announcements, package details and installation offers, dropped street by street as the network expands. Name the block on the card and the offer stops being generic.

Schools, academies and tuition centres

Admission and enrolment drives in the residential blocks around the campus. Distance is the strongest argument you have, so lead with the location rather than the curriculum.

Quantities, distribution and reorders

Everything here is printed digitally, so there are no printing plates and no setup charge to spread across the run. A short run is priced fairly rather than carrying the cost of preparing a press, a custom shape adds nothing because cutting is digital too, and a different number, name or code on every piece costs the same as printing one design repeatedly. Quotes are in PKR.

QuantityCost per piece
25 – 100Highest per piece, though still viable
250Noticeably lower
500Best value on most jobs
1,000 and aboveQuoted per job

Door hangers are bought by the thousand and wasted by the thousand, so the run is worth planning around the distribution rather than the unit price.

  • Cover one area properly rather than several thinly. Two thousand hangers across one society will outperform the same two thousand spread over six, because people talk to their neighbours and a name seen on four gates registers differently to one seen once.
  • Code the tear-off by block or street. Same card, different code per area. It costs almost nothing and it tells you which blocks to go back to next season.
  • Test before the big run. Five hundred hangers in one block will tell you whether the offer and the shape work. Finding out that the hole does not fit the gates after printing five thousand is an expensive lesson.
  • Add ten percent for damage. Hangers get bent in distribution, dropped, and lost to weather and guards. Overage in the original run costs far less than a short reprint.

Reorders are simple. Your file and your die stay on record, so a repeat run needs no new die charge and no new proof unless the artwork has changed.

Door hanger printing FAQs

Runs start at 50 pieces. Cutting is digital rather than done with a metal die, so there is no tooling charge and a small test batch is genuinely affordable. Cost per piece falls as the run grows, most noticeably at 250 and 500.

It depends entirely on what you are distributing to. Apartments and flats usually have lever handles or knobs, and the standard 35 mm hole works. Independent houses with steel gates often have nothing to hang from, and a fold-over gate tag or a punched hole with a tie is the better format. Walk one block of your target area and look at the gates before you commit to a die. Tell us what you saw and we will suggest the shape.

90 x 215 mm is the standard and suits most residential drops. Go to 105 x 280 mm if you need room for a service list or a price panel, and add 60 to 70 mm at the base if you want a tear-off coupon. Hotel hangers are usually 90 x 200 mm so they sit above the lock plate.

Yes, perforated so it separates cleanly. It is the most useful addition you can make, because the hanger itself is always thrown away and the coupon survives. Repeat your phone number on the coupon, not just a code, and we can number or code them by area so you can measure the response.

Treat it as a same-day piece. On 350gsm or heavier the card holds its shape through a day on a handle, which is all a distribution run needs, since the resident either takes it in that evening or it goes in the bin. What it will not do is survive rain or several days of sun, so do not plan a hanger campaign around it staying up, and do not distribute in wet weather.

Yes. You have no control over which way round the card ends up facing, so a blank reverse means half your run may never be seen. Use the second side for a service list, an Urdu version of the message or the terms of your offer.

Yes, and neither costs extra. Cutting is digital, so the hole, the slot, an arch top, a fold-over gate tag or an outline cut around your logo all come straight from your artwork with no die charge and no minimum tied to the shape.

Yes, double-sided with Do Not Disturb on one face and Clean My Room on the other, usually with room service or wifi details alongside. Print them on 400gsm so they hold their shape on a handle, order spares in the same run, and replace them as a set so every room looks consistent rather than patchy.

Yes, and for residential distribution it is usually the better choice. An Urdu headline with English contact details reaches more households in most areas. Keep the phone number in standard numerals, send Urdu as outlines or a print-ready PDF, and export from InPage to PDF rather than sending the .inp file.

Print-ready PDF is best, as separate front and back files at 300 DPI in CMYK with 3 mm bleed and fonts outlined. Include the die line as a vector path on its own layer in a spot colour named Die, set to overprint and not printing. If you do not have one, ask us for the template for your size before you start the layout.

Yes. Send your service details, logo, phone number and the area you are covering. Our designers build both sides on the correct die, keep everything clear of the cutting area and send a proof before anything is printed.

Across most of them, and the list keeps growing. The door hangers we print regularly go to home services and maintenance, property and real estate, restaurants and takeaways, hotels and guest houses, internet and cable providers and schools, academies and tuition centres.

The trade matters less than what the job has to do. Two businesses in completely different lines often need the same size, stock and finish, and two shops in the same trade often need entirely different ones. If your line of work is not named above, tell us what the door hangers have to do and where they will be handled, and we will tell you what suits it.

Yes. Orders are couriered anywhere in Pakistan, including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Quetta, and delivery within Karachi can be arranged directly. Hangers are boxed flat so the die-cut hole does not deform in transit.

Pick a product from the range above and order on the site, or send your requirement on WhatsApp with the size, shape, stock, finish and quantity you want, and we will come back with a quote in PKR before anything moves forward.
